Even with school back in session, the Prince of Peace Lutheran School and Church addition project is moving forward steadily. A Zwick Construction Tenant Improvement Division project, this addition aims to expand the existing K-8 school by increasing the number of classrooms and remodeling the administrative spaces within the building. The addition was designed to tie into this Taylorsville, UT church.

Over the last few weeks, teams have dried-in the roof, installed windows, and completed framing and MEPs on the first level. In coming days, they will start waterproofing the exterior, complete MEPs on the second level, and begin drywall and insulation.
This progress hasn’t come without challenges, though. By nature of working in an existing building with unknown conditions, this team ran into some initial challenges when demolition teams began working on the administrative spaces and the tie-in area. The Zwick TI team got to work sending RFIs to the architect and coming up with possible solutions for each issue.
Speaking of schedules, this team has been challenged with working around an active student calendar. During preconstruction, the team devised a plan that allows deliveries and construction personnel to enter the site from the west side, totally avoiding students. This safe approach has helped prevent disturbances to student learning.
The TI team has proactively worked with the principal and other staff to coordinate construction activities. Thanks to everyone involved in this project!
