St. George Office Wraps up Two Projects in November

November was an exciting month for the St. George Office with the completion of two significant projects.

The Overton Power District is one of Zwick's recently-completed projects.

The first project was completed in Overton, NV for Overton Power District 5, a provider of electric service to northeast Clark County, NV. The project included the remodel of their existing space, as well as a 3,400 SF expansion. The remodel allowed for a larger breakroom, more offices, a patio, and a monitoring station with a generator back-up.

From the outset, the project seemed very straightforward; however it came with unique challenges. The first challenge surrounded sequencing in relation to the fire suppression system. The original building had the system under the proposed expansion, which required the team to re-route it and keep the system live throughout the entire process.

Next, structural elements in the roof required coordination. The original design of the building was perfectly square, which placed the peak directly in the center of the building. With the new addition, the peak would no longer be centered in the building, causing an insufficient balance in the weight of the roof. Teams had to strengthen and remodel the roof to fit the needs of the new design.

Even with major COVID-related delays, the project team delivered the project on November 20th.

The second project completed by the St. George Office was the Chrysalis Multipurpose Office in Cedar City, UT.

This was the second project Zwick has completed for Chrysalis– the team completed an office building for them a couple years ago and the owners were so pleased with the results, they asked the team to complete this tenant improvement project in the long sought-after shell space on Main Street.

Chrysalis provides care for individuals with disabilities. The project that they hired Zwick to complete serves as a multipurpose space for those individuals, such as an arts and crafts space, a career-placement center, and more.

The challenge with this project was the quick turn-around time. From start to finish, the project lasted 45 days. To ensure that supplies arrived on time for installation, Zwick had to order many supplies earlier than is typical.

At its completion, the owners were very content with the results. Thanks to the team for their hard work and dedication to this project.
