Congratulations to the American Fork 860 team for being the recipient of the 2021 Safe Project of the Year Award! This is a major accomplishment that requires consistent dedication to enforcing and maintaining safe practices on a jobsite.
To be eligible for the annual Safe Project of the Year Award, a team must receive the highest average score on their monthly safety audit conducted by our Director of HSE. During the audit, both positive and negative safety practices are noted, including fall protection, PPE, fire safety, heat illness protection, and more. The points are totaled, giving an overall score. The American Fork team received a yearly average of 94%—an impressive score that reflects their dedication to preserving a safe site.
Our Director of HSE explained, “The American Fork team made safety a part of their daily activity. The whole team got involved, especially because the superintendent cannot be everywhere to check for safe practices all the time. This team has set the bar in regard to safety.”
In fact, the team has demonstrated many times how important safety is to them. For example, to keep their subcontractors safe, they installed thousands of rebar caps in a matter of days.
A Superintendent said, “More than anything we want everyone to be safe, so we set a precedence to subs that they need to be safe. We will not let them get away with the little things; they know that from day one. They are aware that we want them to be safe, and they appreciate our commitment to safety.”
For that commitment, the team is very deserving of this award. Each team member received a Carhartt jacket with an embroidered insignia of the award.
