In February, a Salt Lake City Zwick team delivered a new Deseret First Credit Union branch in Bountiful, UT. It was the third project for Deseret First completed by Zwick Construction.
The building was designed especially to have increased visibility both inside and out. Each office has floor-to-ceiling glass walls, and large windows cover most of the exterior. This design brings in natural light and makes the building feel open, modern, and clean. The exterior is comprised of masonry and ACM panels.
The branch also makes use of state-of-the-art technology. As members walk into the branch, a large LED reader board gives information about the branch and upcoming events. The board is so large that it can be seen outside from the road.
At the start of the project, the team had to demolish an existing structure and rework the land in preparation for building. One of the biggest challenges of the project was tying in the storm drain to the busy, five-lane UDOT road adjacent to the property. The tie-in was 12-feet deep.
Another interesting feature of the project is the drive-through canopies used by tellers. They are uniquely, geometrically-shaped with unusual slopes, which made for a noteworthy installation.
The project began in July 2020 and was delivered last week, making the project a seven-month duration, one month of which was demolition.
