A modern and unique addition to the historic central ninth neighborhood in Salt Lake City, UT, the Sloane Apartments have welcomed new residents to the area over the past few months. A Zwick Construction project, Sloane Apartments represents one of many projects we have delivered to the owner.
Sloane Apartments is a 91,000 SF complex with 88 one- and two-bedroom units. In addition to ample parking space on ground-level, residents have access to many amenities, including co-working spaces, a fitness center, gathering room/clubhouse with an entertainment center and food preparation area, and a sizable outdoor courtyard on the second floor. The centerpiece of the courtyard is a beautiful fireplace with outdoor seating, lawn games, and more. A six-story building, Sloane offers many residents ground-floor entrances and balconies.
Located strategically within walking distance of the TRAX train station and other important city amenities, Sloane is an ideal living set-up for downtown professionals. However, that unique locale introduced some challenges for the project team as well.
On the northwest side of Sloane is a particularly historic neighborhood, where most houses are over 100 years old. Working so close to those neighborhoods, the project team had to carefully navigate many parts of construction to protect the homes. Fortunately, due to their concentrated effort, no homes were damaged from construction activities.
Next, on the west side of Sloane is a daycare center, which required the team to use lifts for facade installation, rather than scaffolding.
Last, on the east side of Sloane, the project team was required by the City to replace the 200 West underground utilities.
Earlier this year, many of these same individuals delivered the sister complex to Sloane Apartments, Slate Apartments, located down the street, for these owners.
