Back to School: U OF U Alumni House Remodel

Originally built by Zwick Construction in 1980, the University of Utah Alumni House acts as a meeting place for alumni and other dignitaries of the university. In 2016, Zwick was hired again by the owner to remodel and build-out the space. Over the years, the growth of the university required an expansion and redesign of the space.

To begin, the project required a complete demolition of the building, down to the structural elements, then comprised of a two-level expansion and redesign of the exterior.

The alumni house is located in the heart of the University of Utah’s busy campus, and since the remodel took place during semesters, the team had to make special considerations for academic schedule, as well as vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

The remodeled space features banquet areas, public spaces, offices, a large kitchen and catering support area, and many public gathering areas.

Notwithstanding the owner’s especially high expectations for the project, the team was able to deliver the elegant project to a pleased audience in 2017.
