Building a sandwich shop inside an operating and busy gas station is no easy task–which is why the Zwick Construction Tenant Improvement Division worked many evenings after the store closed to deliver the project.

Fabulous Freddy’s Gas Station and Car Wash in Sandy, UT recently welcomed a new Ike’s Sandwiches location. A national chain, this 1,000 SF shop has welcomed hungry customers for about three weeks.

The owner of Fabulous Freddy’s hired the Zwick Construction Tenant Improvement Division to turn this project into a reality. The team began by demolishing some parts of the convenience store, then framed and finished the area to make room for the sandwich store.

While construction was relatively straightforward, working in an operating gas station brought challenges for the team. In order to protect visitors to the store, the team installed visqueen walls around the construction area. Moreover, they worked many night shifts after the store closed.

In the end, the owner was pleased with the results, especially considering the project was delivered in eight weeks–two weeks earlier than expected.
