The second project completed in May by our healthcare business unit and the St. George Office, the remodel of the Respiratory Therapy Suite within the St. George Regional Hospital aimed to create more breakroom space for the faculty of the facility.
Formerly a scope cleaning room and a small breakroom, the space was demolished and expanded to combine both rooms, creating a larger breakroom, totaling 535 SF.
During demolition, the project team gutted the finishes, ceilings, MEPs, and adjusted sprinklers. Additionally, this remodel called for med gas lines to be demolished, which required extensive coordination: First, only a certified subcontractor can cut and cap the line. A state-accredited individual must also be present at the time of termination to immediately re-certify the system. Second, this process can only happen when the med gas can be turned off, meaning that no one in the hospital needs med gas. That necessitated an after-hours completion. While the actual process took about one-hour, coordination in preparation for adjustments took several days to complete.
As with the Southwest Orthopedics suite project, this remodel also required ICRA walls, negative air, and consistent cleaning to ensure patient experience was maintained.
From start to finish, this remodel took three months and was delivered on-time.
