With just a few more months left at Bowers Residences in South Salt Lake, UT, the Zwick Construction project team has been moving into finishes and punchlists throughout the eight-story building.
At its completion, the 236-unit complex will feature four partial levels of parking under four levels of luxury housing. The parking garage will be utilized both by the residents of the building and the neighboring office. Residents will have access to an amenity deck, spa, gym, banquet room, and bocce ball court.
While the project is moving steadily toward completion, it has not been without challenges. With the parking garage being completed early into the project and by nature of the shared occupancy with the office building adjacent to the project, the lower levels of the parking garage were constantly used throughout construction. This required the team to work with the owners to ensure that certain areas were closed-off during particular phases of construction. Precautions were taken to keep vehicles and pedestrians safe.
Even with these challenges, the project team consistently worked to keep morale high and subcontractors happy. For example, each week the team identified an individual or firm that valued safety and went the extra mile. They awarded that individual or team with a small gift as recognition for their work. They also hosted celebratory lunches for successfully completing milestones and inspections.
"We value maintaining strong, working relationships with our subcontractors, so we reward and recognize them for their hard work and safe practices." -Project Manager
To help keep the project running effectively and on-time, the team also installed Zwick’s first material hoist elevator. As the project manager explained, the hoist, along with trash chutes, have been extremely helpful in saving time and manpower.
Great work to the project team!
