Completed by Zwick Construction in October 2018, the 21 by URBANA apartments has become a highly sought-after complex for Salt Lake City residents. The 126-unit complex offers its residents porch spaces, hot tubs, outdoor gathering areas, and large, luxurious apartments. The building itself is six-stories: four wood-framed over two levels of podium. The podium is one level at-grade and one level below-grade, providing 136-parking stalls for residents.
The exterior of the building features brick masonry and metal paneling. Parts of the podium are board-formed, giving a unique and aesthetic highlight on the ground floor.
Located on 2100 South, a busy street in Salt Lake City, the 21 by URBANA apartments is frequently surrounded by road traffic and pedestrians. This required the team to give careful consideration of the safety and convenience of passing vehicles and pedestrians. Zwick worked with Salt Lake City officials to close one lane of the street at certain times. Between the tight site and the busy roadway, teams had to find creative solutions for storage, deliveries, and parking.
A few months into the project, 21 by URBANA apartments project received a tower crane, which helped the team have more flexibility in construction. It was placed in what would become the elevator shaft and was removed in perfect time to complete the elevator.
After a year and a half of construction, the project was delivered to pleased owners. In fact, since the 21 by URBANA apartments, Zwick Construction was hired by the owner to work on other projects throughout Utah.
Congratulations to the project team for such a notable project!
