Universities across the nation have been taking serious precautions in regard to COVID-19 over the past several months, but have still taken opportunities to hold recruiting events in new, virtual ways. Zwick Construction has been invited to participate in those events at several universities.
California Polytechnic State University was the first that we participated with. They held a virtual info session where we answered questions about our company, current projects, response to COVID-19, and other topics that the students were interested in. Rather than handing out traditional swag, we offered students a Door Dash gift card for participating in the conversation.
Next, we moved across the West to Brigham Young University-Idaho where we participated in two virtual info sessions for the students in the Construction Management program there. Many similar topics were discussed.
Last, the Salt Lake City Office participated in a virtual career fair with Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Students had the opportunity to “walk around” and visit different booths of employers represented at the STEM fair.
Representatives of Zwick spent a couple hours each chatting with students and explaining potential internship opportunities.
Even with these platforms not being as ideal as in-person conversations, we were still able to interact with intelligent students at the various universities who might be great additions to Zwick.
The future of the construction industry is bright with these students entering and filling roles.
