CEDAR CITY TEMPLE
CEDAR CITY, UT: CEDAR CITY TEMPLE
OWNER: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
ARCHITECT: Arch Nexus
SIZE: Confidential
During preconstruction, Zwick Construction was able to identify and implement measures that allowed teams to deliver the project with significant savings, bringing the costs into the owner's budget.
Zwick delivered the Cedar City Utah Temple to the owners in September 2017. Ground was broken on this temple on August 8, 2015. Upon the owner’s commissioning, it will become the 17th temple in Utah, serving the needs of South Central Utah and parts of Eastern Nevada.
The structure has three floors above ground and a full basement. At the top of the third floor is a mezzanine. The concrete walls support the integrity of the building and could endure a major earthquake. They are 15 inches thick and prevent the temple from swaying and twisting. The footings of the temple are 8 feet wide and 40 inches deep.
The interiors are finished in level-five finishes, with high-end millwork, tile and wall coverings. Much of the design was changed at 50% completion, requiring an amended construction schedule to ensure timely delivery of this new Cedar City, UT landmark.
