Dismantling Tower Cranes

Dismantling a tower crane can be nearly as intensive as installing one. Our project team at Camber in Salt Lake City knows all about that. In September, the team and trade partners removed the 144-foot Camber tower crane that formerly reached a 230-foot radius.

Dismantling the tower crane required them to remove portions of the crane piece by piece utilizing a large, mobile luffing crane and a team of ironworkers and riggers. This mobile crane had to reach over the existing framed building and pull the tower crane out of the courtyard. Meanwhile, teams also used a smaller mobile crane to load the dismantled pieces onto semi-trucks. The process took three days, about 14 hours.
